Countess Ottilie and Count Alexander von Faber-Castell
Lothar von Faber's oldest granddaughter Ottilie marries Count Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen in 1898. After the marriage, the family is known as Count and Countess von Faber-Castell. This gives rise to the new Castell brand.
A new family crest: Faber-Castell
Lothar von Faber stipulated that the name "Faber" must be retained if the heiress to the company were to marry. When Baroness Ottilie marries Count Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, the new family name therefore becomes Count and Countess von Faber-Castell.
After three daughters, the couple finally welcome son and heir Roland to the world in 1905. Their son Wolfgang, born in 1902, died at the age of just a few months.
